What do you use to mix with professional permanent and semi-permanent hair colour. Just peroxide?

I’m a professional Hair Dye novice but want to limit the damage I’m doing bleaching my hair and then using bright red temp hair dyes like crazy colour and directions. I use the fire shade in both and they wash out very quickly, while simultaneously dyeing everything else in sight, much to my housemates’ irritation. Also I’ve become allergic to Directions and CC seems to go pink after a couple of washes, prompting me to dye it again far too quickly. I’ve bought some Goldwell Topchic perm dye in tubes but what do you mix it with? Is it as simple as cream peroxide? If so, which strength? Also what do you mix the semi-perm dye in tubes with? I’ve done a lot of hunting on the net for this information but hairdressers, not surprisingly, want to keep their secrets, and believe me if I could pay for their highly-trained services I would.
My roots when they grow through are mid brown with grey bits.

20 vol peroxide, but read the amounts cos thats important. you will probably find that even a proffesional colour washes out quickly as bleached hair is very porous and hair dye molecules are quite small. for semi’s we used to use half peroxide and half conditioner, but i’m not sure anymore. I’ve been doing mens hair for years now.
